ABOUT TELEMECANIQUE

Telemecanique started as Manufacture d’Appareillage Electrique in Nanterre, France and invented the first bar contactor in 1924. They adopted the Télémécanique Electrique name just four years later in 1928. After filing a patent for their contactor, Telemecanique continued to innovate and expand, eventually becoming a leading specialist in automation management. Their D contactors became a global reference.

Telemecanique continued to innovate and expand their capabilities in the coming decades and became a leader in industrial automation management. They expanded throughout Europe and into North America, South America, Asia, and Africa. During this time, Telemecanique developed minicomputers, frequency inverters, programmable logic controllers, and more for industrial use. Telemecanique was acquired by Schneider Electric in 1988 and became Schneider Electric’s Automation and Control segment in 2009.
